Meet our Missionaries – Bonnie Garcia, Surgical Missions Director/Advisor

I was raised in a small town in West Texas- Sweetwater (best known for The World’s Largest Rattlesnake Round-up). I attended college at Abilene Christian University for 3 years then transferred to Methodist School of Nursing to finish my nursing education. I have worked in renal telemetry (dialysis and kidney transplant patients), ICU, ER, and the 18 years in surgery (10 as Nurse Manager). I have experience in nursing education and long-term care as well.

I first became aware of KenyaRelief.org through a CRNA friend of mine in 2014 who encouraged me to come on a medical mission trip with him, then he got ill and was unable to make the trip, but I came anyway- and I was hooked. I fell in love with the people of Kenya as well as the mission of KenyaRelief.org. I have subsequently made 2 other mission trips and fallen more in love!

I am the mother of 3 children (2boys and 1 girl). Alex is 23 and a student at South Plains College in Lubbock- studying to be a calculus teacher. Zach is 21 and a student in Sweetwater studying nursing. Abby is 20-married and the mother of my beautiful granddaughter Allie Jo- and studying nursing as well. Abby’s husband is Patrick and is a manager at the Walmart in Sweetwater. I also have a step-daughter Elainia who is 27 and married to Wayne (in the Coast Guard). They have 3 beautiful girls as well- Madison (6), Amelia (5), and Elizabeth (10 months).

I am honored to be able to be the hands and feet of Jesus here in Migori. I look forward to helping be a part of the positive progress that KenyaRelief.org is in the Migori region and in the country of Kenya.
